I tried book, I tried...but the only reason I did not stop immediately after that *~*hillarious*~* joke about how the main-character gets regularily beaten by his wife was that this book is set in Belfast and I'd love to read more crime-novels set in Northern-Ireland...but fact is: I don't care about these characters...or anything in this novel.
